Breed History

The young John Russell, while a student at Exeter Hall Oxford, was taking a walk across the University Parks towards Marston when he came across a milkman with a terrier "the like of which he had never encountered before", this terrier, Trump, was to become the first of his foundation stock which produced the type of foxing terrier that we know today as the Parson Russell.

The Parson Russell Terrier can make the most fantastic pet, just make sure they know you are the boss! Have lots of fun with him, but don't spoil him! AND you WILL end up with the best friend in the world!

Characteristics

The Parson Russell Terrier is a dog of character. He is loyal, plucky ,intelligent, and at times comical, he makes a great pet or working dog be it the field or show ring.

He enjoys a regular routine but, as a true terrier, is always ready for the unexpected and will tackle any task with considerable determination.
